Acne Scars

Tea Tree Oil is often touted as an acne scars remover, but the evidence just isn't compelling.

There are several recognized methods for removing old blemishes, including chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser removal.

Besides the emotional aspect of skin blemishes, the reminder of painful sores and the embarrassment suffered causes many to find a quick fix.

The best way to find what will work for you is to see a dermatologist, who can suggest a safe and effective means of acne scar removal.

The money spent for a consultation with a doctor will be money well spent!

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a common means of treating acne scarring. The name sounds a little more frightening to me than the process.

Basically, dead skin and outer layers are removed or reduced chemically, by the application of a mild acid, such as a glycolic acid. The solution is applied and left on the skin for several minutes, and then rinsed of.

It may take a series of applications to achieve the desired results.

Dermabrasion

Another common method is dermabrasion.

Dermabrasion is achieved with a metal oxide, an extremely fine spinning wire brush, or by a diamond tool. Again, the top layers of skin are removed, and there may be soreness for several days or weeks.

Laser Treatments

The acne scar removal treatments that are receiving the most attention are laser treatments. This is an exciting treatment possibility because of the various options and quick recovery times that have been associated with laser therapies. A physician can tell you if this is a good choice for you.

There are several different laser treatments that can treat different layers of skin, to the depth of the acne or its resulting marks.

Liars, Cons, and Scumbags

Finally, don't be taken in by all the hype out there. Because acne such a visible and often emotional issue, a lot of websites and advertisers take advantage of the situation and promise instant cures and magical disappearing acts for acne scarring and blemishes. Unfortunately the only thing that often disappears is your money, along with the propagators of the misleading ads and websites.

I'd love to be able to tell you that tea tree oil will remove your old scars, and I am sure that you can find a few web pages and Yahoo Answers that will promise the same, but I just don't have that kind of good news for you.

The best advice I can give you if you have acne scarring and want to get rid of them forever is do it right the first time and go see a pro! The dermatologists have studied skin and skin diseases, and they can direct you to what works.

It's a waste of good money to think that tea tree oil is going to solve scarring, because it can't abrade your skin, cause new skin growth, or shrink the size or shape of a scar.

The best way to treat acne blemishes and scars is to take care of your body and it's defenses nutritionally before the acne gets bad, and if you already have an existing acne challenge, to take the right nutritional steps to improve your skins quality.

Taking care of your body involves keeping it running at peak performance and health. Like an engine that's dirty or has fouled spark plugs won't run well or burn fuel properly, your body needs the same sort of conditions. I can help you with nutritional answers to help get your system running clean and efficiently.
